Owning a farm brings a lot of costs with it. You need the ground, whatever it is you’re growing and, of course, farming machinery & equipment. This is probably the most expensive part of the entire enterprise, so it is very important that you buy the right equipment at the right price. You need to think about exactly what you will be doing on your land, how large your land is, the condition the ground is in and, perhaps most important of all, what your budget is. Let’s have a look at some of the more commonly found farming machinery & equipment. This will give you an idea of what you can expect and what you can need. Of course, if you are already an established farmer, this information may be a little bit superfluous to you, but it never hurts to brush up, does it?

The Different Types of Machinery & Equipment

Writing down an entire list would be almost impossible. There is so much farming machinery & equipment available on the market today that listing everything would be impractical and time-consuming. However, you may also want to look at a backhoe for sale, as well as a tractor, special blades, choppers, perhaps a wood chipper and a mower. It all depends on the type of farming you intend to do. If you are looking at hay and silage, for instance, some of the farming machinery may include a field chief and a slasher. For agricultural attachments, you could choose from a range of different Negri products, which are known to be very good in terms of performance and value for money.

Special Equipment

There is also a lot of special equipment out there. This type of farming machinery & equipment is really for specialized processes. Post hole augers, for instance, are machines that not every farmer will need. Similarly, you may need a backhoe ripper attachment, depending on what your need your backhoe for. The ripper attachment is used for digging through a range of different terrains. You do need to think about the terrain that you have to work with. The ground could be very dry and hard, for instance, or perhaps you are left with a muddy marshland.

Tractors

Last but not least, there are the tractors. In terms of farming machinery & equipment, these are probably the most important of all. They come in a range of models, from the very compact to the very large. Again, it all depends on the land that you have available and the work that you want to do. The largest, most expensive, tractors are naturally the most comfortable, but if you only have a very small area to work with, these machines would be cumbersome. However, should you work in almost desert like conditions, you may need a larger tractor, as these often have air conditioning in them as well. On the other hand, the smaller and compact tractors often have roofs that can be removed if need be. This means they can protect you from the sun on some very hot days, while still having the space if need be.
